South Africa – still wine categories (RS)

Residual sugar after fermentation defines the term used on the label. Extra dry and semi-dry are rarely used on the wine label as wine can be sold using a description more widely recognised. Unless a maximum is shown, these are the minimum residual sugars for the particular style of wine. Noble Late harvest (NLH) wines can have significantly higher RS levels, often above 180 g/l.
