Nahe QbA is located along the Nahe River which flows into the Rhein at Bingen. There are various soils including mixture of sands with clay. In the north, sandstone soils are dominant, producing similar wines to Rheinhessen QbA. In the south the soil is slate where Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Silvaner are mostly grown. Riesling wines have similar floral aromas of Mosel wines with the elegance of Rheingau QbA wines. The terroir of Nahe QbA is highly prized with wines showing distinctly different characters depending on the soil type.
