Steiermark/Styria

Steiermark / Styria
At the southeastern curve of Austria is Steiermark, or Styria. The region amounts to a mere 10% of Austria’s vineyard. Aromatic local white grapes dominate but you can also find international grapes such as Pinot Blanc, Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc. There’s also Chardonnay, known here as Morillon, and a locally famous rosé grown on low rolling hills. The climate allows for long ripening on extensive volcanic soils which produces world class white wines with concentrated flavours and complexity.
