Bordeaux appellations 4

Wines of Médoc and Sauterne were classified by the Chamber of Commerce of Bordeaux at the time of the International Exposition of Paris in 1855. The classification was based on information collected by the wine merchants on the dealing prices of the wines and the fame of chateaux. Sixty wines of the Médoc, one from Graves and twenty-seven sweet wines from Sauterne and Barsac were classified.
