Austria – key regions

Austria’s wine country is divided into four large regions, which split into thirteen smaller DAC regions. There are also smaller regions which can produce excellent wines but are not yet classified as DAC. Niederösterreich is to the northeast along the river Danube, its tributaries and surrounding Vienna. Burgenland is to the east, and Steiermark, or Styria, is in the south. Vienna is the capital city which has a significant wine industry within its city limits.
