Catalunya

Catalunya is in the north eastern corner of Spain and designated as a separate nationality within Spain. Catalonia consists of four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The capital and largest city is Barcelona, the second-most populated municipality in Spain and the sixth most populous urban area in the European Union. It comprises most of the territory of the former Principality of Catalonia (with the remainder in Roussillon, France). It is bordered by France and Andorra to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the east, and the Spanish regions of Aragon to the west and Valencia to the south. The official languages are Catalan and Spanish. The Catalunya DO is only used for wines that are not made within another DO or DOCa in the region.
