Like the French AOC system, DOC specifies zone of production, varieties, yield, winemaking techniques, style and labels. There are over 300 DOC’s that have increased in size from the original area. The original zone is identified by adding the term ‘Classico’ on the end of the DOC name to indicate the wine was produced in the historical and often best zone.
